Purpose of the Job:

As a Design Generalist at VALR, you will be at the forefront of shaping the brand experience and driving engagement through both marketing and product design. Your role is pivotal in designing intuitive, aesthetically pleasing, and functional designs that enhance the user journey and align with VALR’s business goals. You will leverage your expertise to address a variety of design challenges, including creating compelling marketing assets and supporting product design initiatives.

What will you be doing:

  • Develop and implement design strategies for new features and product enhancements, focusing on user-centered solutions that align with VALR’s objectives and enhance user satisfaction.
  • Support marketing efforts by creating engaging digital assets, including GIFs, animations, and videos.
  • Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and marketing teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with technical constraints.
  • Provide design support across various teams, facilitating seamless integration of design elements into product development and marketing initiatives.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution and maintenance of our design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across all products.
  • Implement and refine design standards and best practices to uphold high-quality and cohesive visual outputs.

What we look for in you:

  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Designer, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating your design process and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools.
  • A solid understanding of UX/UI principles and best practices.
  • Experience with design platforms such as Squarespace and Sendgrid is advantageous.
  • Capability to support both marketing and product teams with animation, digital design, and product design.
  • Ability to interpret data and research insights to make well-informed design decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and rationale.
  • A strong team player with experience working within cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, engineer-ready designs.
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Comfortability with the urgent and fast-paced nature of marketing design, and maintaining high-quality work under pressure.
